More than 50 people gathered for the Community Advocacy Coalition for Developmental Disabilities retreat July 13, 2026, at the SeaTac Conference Center. Coalition members, state leaders and community partners came together to discuss how Washington can strengthen services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

State Rep. Jamila Taylor, state Sen. Claire Wilson and state Sen. Noel Frame attended the retreat. During a lunchtime discussion, they shared their support for Washington’s 10-year strategic plan and answered questions from participants.

The retreat focused on creating a shared vision for the plan, which will guide future work across areas such as housing, employment, community-based services, workforce needs and access to supports. Participants emphasized that the plan should be practical, grounded in shared values and shaped by people with lived experience.

Participants reviewed recommendations on housing, residential supports, employment and day services, and systems change. They also identified other priorities, including crisis services, education, family supports, health care, technology, transportation and early supports.

The day ended with a discussion about the upcoming legislative session and how coalition members can continue working together to protect services and improve supports across Washington.
