The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council’s new 2027–2031 State Plan has been conditionally accepted, marking an important milestone as we prepare for the next five years of our work.
Developmental Disabilities Councils are required to develop and submit a five-year State Plan outlining their goals and planned work. The new plan covers federal fiscal years 2027–2031 and will guide the Council’s efforts to improve opportunities, increase access to community-based supports, strengthen self-determination and improve quality of life for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

The plan was shaped by what we heard from people across Washington. The Council gathered input through a statewide Community Survey, community meetings and public comment, along with a comprehensive review of the services, supports and systems that affect people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Developmental Disabilities Councils provide annual updates to their five-year plans, allowing planned activities, objectives, outcomes and other components to be updated as the work moves forward. Please keep checking back for updates!
