WADDC 5 Year State Plan 2027-2031 Public Comment Period Open

April 23, 2026

The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) has released its draft 2027–2031 State Plan for a 45 day public comment period. This is the final chance for Washington residents to review the proposed priorities and share their feedback before we finalize the plan. The survey opens April 23rd, 2026 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Every five years, the Washington State Developmental Disability Council (DDC) creates a new State Plan. This plan explains what the Council will work on and what goals it will focus on and what it will do to achieve those goals. To make sure the plan reflects what people in Washington actually need, the DDC asks the public to share their ideas and experiences.

For the past year and a half, the DDC has been gathering information to help build the new plan. They looked at feedback from the summer 2025 survey, reviewed data from many different sources, and talked with Council Members about what issues matter most. All of this helped shape the draft 2027–2031 State Plan.

Now the Council wants to hear from you. This public comment period is your chance to say what you think, what’s missing, and what the DDC should focus on. Your feedback will help the Council make the final plan stronger and more responsive to the needs of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
